7. Desmond Trufant

Not all that much is said about Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant compared to the other top corners in the league. Why? There are two reasons for the lack of recognition for Trufant. The first is the defense he plays in has consistently been one of the worst in the league for the past few seasons. It is hard to single out the one player who is doing everything right when the rest of the defense is failing so miserably.

The second is he shows up and does his job without the talk you hear out of a Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman or Josh Norman. He is not your typical loud-mouthed, trash-talking corner. He shows up every game and does his job. While that is what most teams want in a player it will not demand the media attention that Sherman or Norman have received over the past few seasons.

With Norman now in Washington, it’s undeniable that Trufant is the best corner in the NFC South as well as one of the best in all of the NFL. Hopefully he will begin to get the recognition he deserves as Dan Quinn rebuilds the Falcons defense.
