5. Matt Ryan

If not for his struggles last season Matt Ryan would be a spot or two further up on this list. No doubt he struggled last season learning a new offense. Over the past few years though there are few quarterbacks who have proven to be as clutch as Ryan.

Whether it is the final minute or the final drive of the game, anytime that he has had the ability touch the ball Falcons fans felt like there was a good chance he would win it for them. More than not in his career he has done just that, earning himself the nickname Matty Ice. Hopefully we see him go back to being the clutch player he was before this past season.

Career wise there is no denying Ryan has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks since joining the league in 2008. He has piled up impressive career stat lines due to the fact he has been able to stay healthy. He has a great and usually very accurate arm. The one thing that has surprised me the most over the years watching Ryan is his developing ability to avoid taking hits and how well he can move around in the pocket.

Ryan has had a year to adjust to his new playbook and should be ready to put together another impressive season to quiet those who do not believe he should be Atlanta’s quarterback.
