You’ll remember a fascinating game these two played out at the same venue last season. The Falcons needed overtime to extend their record to 5-0. Nobody needs to know how the remainder of the season played out.

It will be a very different game this time around with both teams getting preseason underway. Here’s all of the information you need ahead of the game.

There will be a lot for head coach Dan Quinn to focus on in the opener. How will the rookies perform? How is each position battle shaking out? Is the pass rush showing signs of improvements?

He also has a number of tough decisions to make. How long (if at all) will the likes of Julio Jones and Matt Ryan play? On one hand it’s important to get in sync for the start of the regular season in four weeks time, but is the added injury risk worth it?

Given the amount of changes Coach Quinn has made to the defense, it would make sense to give them valuable playing time. Vic Beasley is among those switching positions. He will line up at linebacker in the base defense, although he will still rush off the edge in nickel situations.

Will the new additions to the roster see much time? Alex Mack is the new center in town, and Mohamed Sanu will attempt to improve on Roddy White’s production as the complementary wide receiver.

The win-loss column might not matter until the regular season begins, but there’s a lot to watch for during the preseason. It all begins on Thursday.
