The Atlanta Falcons return to game action against the Philadelphia Eagles following a 10-day layoff. Blogging Dirty goes behind enemy lines with 94WIP’s Joe Kalafut to get to know the Falcons’ opponent a little better.

The Atlanta Falcons played the Philadelphia Eagles in their season opener just last season, with the Falcons coming out on top 26-24 in a Monday night thriller. But a lot has changed for both teams since that game.

The Falcons are in year two of the Dan Quinn era and sit firmly atop the NFC South. Matt Ryan and company appear to be much more comfortable in offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s system this season as they lead the league in most statistical categories. The defense, however, remains a work in progress, but they do have some young pieces that fans should be excited about for the future.

On the flip side, the Eagles moved on from Chip Kelly in the offseason and hired Doug Pederson as their new head coach. They also have a new franchise quarterback whom they traded up for in the draft in Carson Wentz. The defense appears to be the star of this team ranking near the top of the league in most statistics. They are guided by defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who very well could be a hot head coaching candidate after the season.

To better determine how this week 10 matchup will shake out, we’ve enlisted the help of Joe Kalafut (@joekalafut), remote producer of the Eagles’ official radio station 94WIP, to answer some of our burning questions.
