Desmond Trufant, Pro-Bowl cornerback for the Atlanta Falcons, recently signed a five year, $69 million extension. Several fans and analysts took to social media to give their thoughts and opinions on the deal.

Analysts and sports writers also shared their reactions to the deal and its expected impact. Most respond with positivity of the Falcons securing a very good corner, but some are wary of the salary cap situation in the future.
Not many teams have the same starting cornerback tandem for more than a few years. Trufant & Alford could end up playing 5-6 years together.

Falcons now have Trufant and Alford signed to big contracts that can't be traded any time soon and Collins is only in 3rd year. Good depth.

The @ajc reports the Falcons have $17.7 million in cap space right now. That's room to add an impact FA or two/extend Trufant/sign picks.

Fans of the NFL shared their thoughts as well. Many Falcons fans are excited to have Trufant locked up on a long-term deal, further solidifying the defensive consistency that Dan Quinn is building. However, some have concerns about Atlanta’s cap situation and conflicts in the future possibly arising from this contract. Fans of other teams acknowledge that the cornerback market is now firmly set, and their teams will likely have to bust out the checkbook for their star corners as well in the near future.
Y'all got enough cap for that? Didn't Trufant just get an extension for around 65 million and Alford getting a good amount of money too

Overall, this is another step in an exciting future for the Falcons. Some may not be happy with the price tag, but stars and elite players don’t come cheap nowadays. Trufant has shown his ability to lock down his side of the field and cover some of the best receivers in the NFL, and he is a key piece of the defense to continue to build around.
