After being hit with a ten game suspension for violating the NFL substance abuse policy, Jalen Collins may be on the way out with the Atlanta Falcons

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitutional is not happy with Atlanta Falcons cornerback Jalen Collins. Recently the all-knowing Falcons reporter talked to Collins about his upcoming season and asked him point-blank if there were any problems as he attempted to get back into the good graces of the coaching staff.

Collins told him there was nothing at all to worry about, and then a few days later he was suspended for ten games for violating the substance abuse policy a second time. Ledbetter summed up his feelings rather nicely in his article in which he says the team needs to cut ties.

"“He lied to my face as he was suspended 10 games for the 2017 season on Sunday.” — Ledbetter via the Atlanta Journal-Constitutional"

That frustration has to be felt by more than just Ledbetter. Fans are annoyed and the coaching staff that took a chance on him in 2015 has to be as well.

Coming out of LSU Collins had problems with substance abuse, but after interviewing with him leading up to his selection, the staff felt he was worth the risk. After losing him for four games in 2016 and now ten in 2017, he proved that trust to be misplaced.

With players like C.J. Goodwin playing well in his absence and the strong camp by rookie Damontae Kazee, the end could be near for Collins. If it is, he has no one to blame but himself as the talent on the team made him a backup, but his issues off the field made him expendable.
