Atlanta Falcons: Mercedes Benz Stadium will have perpetually closed Chick-fil-A

The Atlanta Falcons new home, Mercedes Benz Stadium, will have a Chick-fil-A inside of it, but they still won’t be open on Sundays when the games are played

Let’s start this off by saying that there will be more sporting events going on at Mercedes Benz Stadium than just the Atlanta Falcons home games. However, honesty has to creep in and say that the NFL team will bring in the majority of the revenue at their new home stadium.

That’s what makes it so strange to hear that a Chick-fil-A stand will be put inside of it, but will only be open for Falcons games not played on Sunday. The Christian-owned franchise has always been known for closing on Sunday and it has never affected their bottom line, so they will stick with this approach even inside the stadium. Still, having a place to sell food inside an arena that will feature a football team playing on Sunday’s seems odd if they aren’t planning to open it for the big games.

The good news is the Falcons will play on Thursday’s two times this season in the new dome. Once in the preseason on August 31 when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars and then again later in the year when they host the New Orleans Saints on December 7.

It will be interesting to see if the fast food chain will be able to make enough money at their new venue off soccer games and other events.

Atlanta United FC of the MLS will also call the stadium home, and their games can be any day. The number of people though will be much higher at NFL games, meaning most food chains that are being put in there will actually be open when the games are going on.
