Atlanta Falcons: 5 Non-NFC South stars to account for in 2017
By Randy Gurzi
The Atlanta Falcons preseason home opener was spoiled by veteran quarterback Carson Palmer and the Arizona Cardinals. If they thought dealing with him and wide receiver John Brown (who caught two touchdowns in that loss) was tough, they really don’t want to think about the regular season home opener.
In Week 2, the Falcons will once again re-debut the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It will mean more to them because it will be a regular season game that will count in the standings. Hopefully that can get them a little more fired up than what they showed against the Cards in Week 3.
Their regular season home opener happens to be against the last team they faced in the Georgia Dome, the Green Bay Packers. They handed a loss to them then in the NFC Championship Game, but that doesn’t mean the next meeting will be easy.
Green Bay is led by one of the best in the business in quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He’s fresh off a season in which he threw for 4,428 yards and 40 touchdowns. The man is a machine and rarely has an off day. Atlanta will have to be dialed in for this one because one slip up against A-Rod could be deadly.
