With the Atlanta Falcons set for a rematch of Super Bowl 51, head coach Dan Quinn would prefer to think about the present, rather than the last time they met

This game has been marked on the calendar for quite some time by many Atlanta Falcons fans. After losing to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 51, many felt like Atlanta missed their big opportunity. For 45 minutes, they were the far superior team, but then the unthinkable happened and the Patriots pulled out a huge upset.

When the schedule makers put the two teams together for a Week 7 meeting on Sunday Night Football, it meant they could get a small semblance of revenge over the team that embarrassed them back in February.

Don’t try preaching that to head coach Dan Quinn though. The leader of the Falcons is focused on moving forward and getting his team moving forward. According to ESPN, Quinn spoke with members of the New England media and said he doesn’t want to talk about any kind of rematch:

"“One of the sayings we have is ‘the only fight that matters is the one you’re in.’ So that’s where our focus is. Even deeper than that, our focus is for us to play at our best. We’re not there yet, so that’s what we’re out chasing. We don’t want to go in the rematch world because we’ve learned our lessons and you don’t get to apply them until you’re back in them again. If we keep looking back in the rear-view (mirror), we’re not going to be where we want to be.”"

It’ s the right attitude to have for sure. However, it’s hard to think that every player shares the same feeling. While they may never admit it, there has to be that part of them deep inside that wants to head into the hostile Gillette Stadium and get a big win.

Doing so would allow them to hold their heads high while forcing the Patriots to accept a loss in front of their home crowd. It won’t be an easy task, but maybe the desire for that revenge can help fuel them.
