Our staff writers give their gut feelings about who will win between the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football

It’s the second trip to Sunday Night Football for the Atlanta Falcons, and their second rematch of last year’s post season as well. In Week 2 they opened their new Mercedes-Benz Stadium with an NFC Championship Game rematch with the Green Bay Packers.

This time they play the team that beat them in the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots.

Atlanta enters the game with with a 3-2 record, but they’re coming off two-straight losses to the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. Both those teams are members of the AFC East, as are the Patriots.

Will they be able to get some revenge on the team that kept them from hoisting their first ever Lombardi Trophy? Our writers do their best to try and answer that very question in our Week 7 predictions.

Game: Atlanta Falcons (3-2) at New England Patriots (4-2)

Breakdown: I picked the Atlanta Falcons to defeat the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. I was wrong both times. Against the Super Bowl defending champions, New England Patriots, I am not going to get this wrong again. I am not going to be made to look like a fool, choosing to side with a team that is notorious for blowing first half leads. There is no way I should pick against the Patriots, at home.

But, I am going to pick against the Patriots anyway. Call me stubborn. But maybe it is that same stubbornness with which the Falcons need to play. Noting needs to get this team down. They need to continue to press forward. And I believe they will press forward in New England and get their fourth win of the season.

Prediction: New England 28, Atlanta 31
