Three Keys To A Falcons Victory – Week 8
Avoid Penalties On Defense
Over the course of the six games played by the Atlanta Falcons, the defense has played relatively well.
The reason for the defense giving up 20 or more points in the last three games is the offense’s inability to keep drives going, which resulted in the defense not getting enough rest.
When the defense is making plays, we are frequently seeing pass interference or roughing the passer calls. These calls are negating some outstanding their efforts.
We have seen Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett receive a roughing the passer penalty twice in the past two weeks.
One incident resulted in an interception being called back. This took place in the loss to the Miami Dolphins. That forced turnover could have resulted in points that would have extended the Falcons’ lead, or prevented the Dolphins from scoring, which they did.
If the Falcons’ defense eliminates these simple mistakes, they could give Jets quarterback Josh McCown a very tough time on Sunday.
These factors all helped the 2016 Falcons reach the Super Bowl.
If the Falcons can find their footing on defense and minimize penalties, I have no doubt they can reach the Super Bowl again this season.

If the Falcons can implement these three keys to victory, I expect a win in New York this Sunday, and as a result, a key mid-season momentum shift.
