Julio Jones wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week
Julio Jones was named the NFC Offensive Player Of The Week award for his dominant performance vs the Bucs in which he poured on 12 receptions for 253 yards and two touchdowns
Atlanta Falcons’ wide receiver Julio Jones has just been named NFC Offensive Player Of The Week for Week 12 of the 2017 NFL Season. This is in the aftermath of his monster game vs the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in which he hauled in 12 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns. Per NFL Senior of Football Communications Randall Liu, this is Jones’ fourth player of the week award since the 2015 season. This is also the most by any wide receiver over this period.
Jones came into the game vs Tampa Bay with only one touchdown this season. Prior to the Falcons’ current three-game winning streak, the team failed to get the long ball to Jones or feed him in the red zone. Offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian seems to finally have found the formula and is aggressively getting the ball to the explosive wide out. Jones’ performance in Atlanta’s win over Tampa Bay further proved his case for being the best wide receiver in the NFL.

Jones will look to be an explosive and viable asset in the Falcons’ Week 13 matchup against the surprising 9-2 Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota’ defense is ranked fifth in the NFL but if Jones is able to get open the way he did vs Tampa, the league may see the Falcons come up with the upset over a Vikings team that wasn’t expected to make this much noise without quarterback Sam Bradford.
