The Atlanta Falcons can still win the NFC South in their final three games, but got no help as both the Saints and Panthers won on Sunday in Week 15

The Atlanta Falcons still have three games to play — all against NFC South opponents. If they take care of business in them, they will find themselves reclaiming the division title. That doesn’t mean a little bit of help wouldn’t have been nice. Unfortunately, the Falcons got none on Sunday as both the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers got wins to move to 10-4 on the season while the Falcons are looking to move to 9-5 with their Monday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

New Orleans was expected to win as they were on the same field as the New York Jets — who were playing without starting quarterback Josh McCown. He broke his hand the week prior and the Jets were forced to start Bryce Petty. Without their veteran leader, New York was unable to take advantage of several turnovers by the Saints, who walked away with a 31-19 win.

Carolina on the other hand was in a much tighter game. The Green Bay Packers were in town and they had Aaron Rodgers back under center for the first time in two months. He showed that he had some rust after missing seven games with a broken collarbone and threw three interceptions in a seven-point loss.

Now all the pressure is back on the Dirty Birds to do the work on their own. Should they handle the Bucs on MNF, they then have the Saints followed by the Panthers. It’s setting up for a wild finish, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Or maybe we just don’t know any other way.
