After a roller coaster regular season, the reigning NFC champions Atlanta Falcons are primed to go the distance in the NFL playoffs with their team defense.

The expectations were high for the Atlanta Falcons in the 2017 NFL season as the reigning NFC champions out for Super Bowl redemption. And although it appeared that the team veered off course early on in the season, the Falcons took control of their destiny and put themselves in prime position to go the distance in the 2018 playoffs.

Make no mistake, the Falcons are the NFC team to beat.

“What about the Rams, though?” Yes, that was the cry as the Los Angeles Rams had the League’s highest-scoring offense; home-field advantage over the Falcons; and were certainly capable of making a run of their own with MVP-candidate running back Todd Gurley. But as the Falcons already proved by knocking off those Rams, this defense cannot be slept on no matter who they face.

The Atlanta Falcons have reigning MVP Matt Ryan at their helm; an improving run game; playoff experience; and perhaps, the biggest advantage, a rising defense.

The team’s defense hit a stride and carried the team back to the postseason for the second-consecutive year. Its’ run defense finished the season ranked ninth in yards and tied for sixth in touchdowns.

And it’s that same defense that was key in propelling the Falcons to a 26-13 win over the Rams and closer to a second, consecutive Super Bowl appearance.
