What are the biggest obstacles facing the Atlanta Falcons?
By Jacob Yturri
No. 3: Steve Sarkisian
It is incredibly easy to attribute the step-back the Falcons took last year to first-year offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.
The season prior, the Falcons had a high-flying offense led by Kyle Shanahan. In the two years Shanahan coached Atlanta’s offense, the Falcons went from a team that lacked a coherent offensive strategy to one of the NFL’s best.
In fact, Shanahan’s work with Matt Ryan and the rest of Atlanta’s offense was so spectacular, he was offered the job as head coach of the San Fransisco 49ers.
Ultimately, anyone who had to follow in Shanahan’s footsteps would have had a hard time repeating his success. However, Steve Sarkisian does have the potential to redeem himself in year two with the Falcons.
