Records are made to be broken. There are a lot of expectations placed on the Atlanta Falcons this year and if they are able to live up them, we could see several team records be rewritten.

It is no secret that Matt Ryan owns most of the records at the quarterback position for the Atlanta Falcons. To quote the FanSided NFL Editor, and my boss, Michael Collins “Ryan has been the biggest difference-maker in franchise history, and it’s not even close.”

Michael is right, it is not close and in 2019 we could see Matt Ryan break a few of his own franchise records. However, Matt is not the only Atlanta Falcons player that has a chance at breaking team records.

There are certain career and individual records for the Falcons that are sure to never be broken. The first that comes to mind is Jessie Tuggle’s 1,640 career tackles. Not only will that franchise never be broken, but that is the NFL record as well, which will never ever be broken. The closest anyone has come is Ray Lewis and he fell 78 tackles short despite playing 19 more games than the Hammer.

Another franchise record that comes to mind that will not be broken is Jamal Anderson’s 410 rushing attempts in 1998. Michael Turner came close in 2008 when he recorded 376 attempts, but in a league that has changed its rules to favor the passing game, Anderson’s record will never be broken.

There are five different franchise season and career records that could be broken in 2019 on the offensive side of the ball, should everyone stay healthy and play at the level they are capable of.
