Deion Jones Signs Four Year Extension With The Atlanta Falcons

Glad you’re here to stay Deion Jones. The Atlanta Falcons agreed to a four year, $57 million extension for the young linebacker, with $34 million guaranteed.

Deion Jones is the first of the Jones men to get a new, well deserved deal. And it comes some 48 hours after the Atlanta Falcons locked up defensive tackle Grady Jarrett.

So what does this mean for the Falcons? They keep two key parts of their young defensive nucleus intact. When Debo missed more than half the season due to injury last year, it showed. The man is a young, speedy playmaker at the middle linebacker position.

He has won games, and has caught the attention of Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher, and that’s saying something.

Should Quinn falter and a new coach comes in to take over the defensive side of things, Jones could fit nicely into any system. The Falcons are slowly but surely handling possible hold out situations and not allowing things to get too messy.

Keanu Neal should be next up on the list to get a nice contract. The hard hitting safety has a lot to prove after basically missing all of the 2018 season due to injury. Jones’ new deal does put pressure on some other players.

It’s very likely both De’Vondre Campbell and Vic Beasley could be suiting up for other teams in the future. And that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing. The Falcons have some other, young, cheaper talent at the linebacker position and you can always build the defensive line through the draft.

Oh, and don’t forget about Julio Jones. He’s the last of the big contracts the Falcons need to address this off-season to keep the Brotherhood happy and focused.

Next. Matt Ryan is perfect example of perception not meeting reality. dark

For the sake of fans and the franchise, congrats on the new deal Deion, but can the Falcons please take care of Julio.
