According to Ian Rapoport, the Atlanta Falcons signed Allen Bailey to a two year, $10.5 million deal Monday. One can assume he was signed with hopes that he can not only help with sack production, but also add some depth along the defensive line.

This is a sign that the Atlanta Falcons are serious about getting better up front. Bailey had a productive career as a Kansas City Chief. He finished his seven year career with the Chiefs with 207 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, 19.5 sacks, four forced fumbles and seven fumbles recovered in 61 games started.

Bailey had a productive 2018 season for the Chiefs, tallying a career high six sacks and a league high four fumble recoveries.

He could provide some much needed support along the defensive line that could help to improve the Atlanta Falcons struggling pass rush and run defense. This acquisition also adds some much needed depth along the defensive line, especially with the recent injury to defensive lineman, Michael Bennett.

Along with depth and his skill set, he brings experience to a defensive line that is lacking in that area. Assuming he makes the team, it seems likely that his role with the Falcons will be to backup the young guys.

He will join the likes of Grady Jarrett, who recently received a new contract and Jack Crawford, who is coming off of his best season yet. Takk McKinley and Vic Beasley will both look to have bounce back seasons and Deadrin Senat, among others, will look to help rebuild the defensive line into a force. Bailey should be a great fit in the Falcons scheme and will hopefully be as productive as he was with the Chiefs in whatever role the Falcons have him playing as.

His signing with the Falcons will mark his return to his home state. He was born in Sapelo Island, Georgia and went to high school at McIntosh County Academy in Darien, Georgia.
