The upcoming Pro Football Hall of Fame Game will be important for the secondary for the Atlanta Falcons as they hope to continue their hot start.

The secondary for the Atlanta Falcons has been the vocal point of the team so far in the very early stage of training camp.

It is great to see the guys flying towards the ball and grabbing interceptions, even if they are against Matt Ryan. It is exciting to see the veterans and young guys in the secondary making plays. It is vital that the secondary continues to improve and plays well throughout the pre-season.

Veterans like Keanu Neal and Ricardo Allen are coming off of season ending injuries. Desmond Trufant is looking to build off of a bounce back season. Isaiah Oliver and Demontae Kazee are both coming off of impressive seasons, with both guys looking to take their respective game to the next level.

I’m not sure how much of, if any, we will see of Neal and Allen, considering both are coming off serious injuries. Because of this, fans should see plenty of rookies Kendall Sheffield and Jordan Miller. Both guys will certainly add depth to the secondary, something that was lacking last season. I also think both guys will be given opportunities throughout the pre-season and regular season to show off why they were drafted and what they can bring to the table.

It will be interesting to see how the secondary performs Thursday against the Denver Broncos, considering it will be the official start to the season. The Broncos have already announced that Kevin Hogan will be starting Thursday’s game, so the secondary should be able to wreak havoc on the Broncos passing game. Rookie Drew Locke will more than likely see some play time as well.

Next. Falcons no longer laughingstock of NFC South. dark

Overall, I think the secondary for the Atlanta Falcons this season has the ability to be elite, especially under the guidance of Dan Quinn. The Hall of Fame Game Thursday, as well as the other four pre-season games, should give the Falcons and their fans a good idea of what the secondary is going to look like.
