Jake Matthews

Jake Matthews is coming off his best season with the Atlanta Falcons. He made his first Pro Bowl last season and has continued to improve each season. Matthews current Madden Rating is an 80 overall, which has him as the 15th ranked left tackle in the game.

Multiple offensive lineman should have higher ratings in Madden. Offensive lineman are not the most popular in the league because none of them are flashy except for Quenton Nelson. In the new Madden they focused on revamping defensive lines making them more dominant in the game and lowering the ratings for offensive line.

It is hard to judge offensive tackle talent in the game because there are a lot of factors for evaluating including who else in on the offensive line and the opponent they are facing. An offensive lineman can look great playing against terrible pass rushers.

An important aspect of offensive line is who plays right next to them. Chemistry is huge for offensive lines because they require the most teamwork of any positional groups.

Jake Matthews passed many of his peers (insert Jake Matthews article) after the 2018 season. An 80 overall is suppose to be a slightly above average starter and Matthews has proven he should be way above that. Sadly, offensive lineman ratings are also determined by team accomplishments.
