Every team in the NFL, including the Atlanta Falcons, has that “lunch pail” guy who shows up and does his job (in this case very well) without receiving the credit he deserves.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Atlanta Falcons have their MVP in Matt Ryan, an elite talent in Julio Jones, a great all around back in Devonta Freeman, and the young stud in Calvin Ridley. The lunch pail guy on the Falcons offense is none other than Mohamed Sanu.
Don’t get it twisted and let the numbers fool you, Sanu is as talented of a receiver you will find in this league, but playing with Julio often overshadows that and people are so caught up with the potential of Calvin Ridley that Sanu doesn’t get no love.
Sanu has some of the most underrated hands in the league and it’s not a stretch to say that he has some of the best hands in league and we’re talking top 10 hands in the league.
There are plenty of teams that could use Sanu on their team as a number one receiver. His number may not say “number one” but if you look at the elite targets he’s played around (Julio, AJ Green, and Roddy White.
Not only is Sanu an underrated receiver, but he just so happens to be the second best active quarterback on the team; which allows the Falcons to run all type of gadget plays. For his career, he’s 7 of 8 for 233 yards and four touchdowns (he has more passing yards than rushing yards in his career).
You never hear anything negative about Sanu on the field or in the locker room. His name is never in the public eye like some other star players, Sanu is just the model football player. If the Falcons front office is smart, they will do what they can to keep Sanu because he’s vital to the success of this team on and off the field.
