Atlanta Falcons fans should not give up on Beasley just yet
By Joe Beasley
The amount of slander and disrespect thrown towards Atlanta Falcons Vic Beasley has been unacceptable and unfair. Win or lose, we have always stood by our players and supported them but for some reason Falcons nation has made Vic Beasley the exception.
During the 2016 season, Vic gave the Atlanta Falcons and NFL leading 15.5 sacks and was ranked 40th on the list of the NFL Top 100 players of 2017. That 40th place rank wasn’t voted on by the media or guys who don’t know who they talk about, but by fellow NFL players.
All is not lost when it comes to Vic Beasley and it’s quite annoying that people including the die-hard fans of the Falcons continue to bash and put him down like he’s a scrub when he clearly isn’t. During that super bowl season, Beasley was one of the most important players on defense, and due to his performance, it made the job on defense much easier for linebackers and the secondary.
It’s understandable that people are frustrated with his play. Everybody knows he’s talented, they know what he is capable of doing and there is no doubt he can be that same person he was during the 2016 season.
What happened to Vic Beasley? He lost his confidence. Other teams realized the type of impact he had on the defense and teams made it their goal to neutralize his effect on the game. With that happening, his number declined, along with his playing time.
With Dan Quinn in charge of the defense now, people should expect for Vic Beasley to return to that dominant form. He will have more help than ever on defense. Playing with a motivated Takk McKinley, a hungry Deion Jones, and having a hotshot like John Cominsky breathing down his neck should light a fire under him to play out of this world.
Falcon fans will defend Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Deion Jones to the death no matter how bad of a season these individuals might have. Mark my words, Vic Beasley will be a pro bowler this year and will once again have double digit sacks.
Beasley will make his fans happy and prove the doubters wrong in 2019 as he helps lead us to Miami in February.
