Don’t worry about the Atlanta Falcons, they’re just fine
By Joe Beasley
The Atlanta Falcons are 0-2 in the preseason and you can already hear the haters, especially those Saints fan, starting to crack jokes.
These games are meaningless for the Atlanta Falcons in terms of importance to the regular season and playoff seeding. The majority of our key players have yet to take the field and why should they? To shake the rust off? To learn the offense or defense?
Everybody knows when it’s time to ball, Matt Ryan is going to get you 4,500 yards, Julio Jones is going to get you 1300 receiving yards and Deion Jones is a key in for 100 tackles. There is no reason to prep stars like that when they have nothing to do or nothing to prove.
Let’s remember 2003 when things went very wrong in the preseason for the Falcons. There was a lot going for the Falcons as they had super bowl aspirations but those came to an abrupt end when Michael Vick broke his right fibula and ended being sidelined for the part of the season. We don’t need anything like that happening right now because just like in 2003, we have Super Bowl aspirations.
Let’s face it, unless you have a new coaching staff or added new players at key positions, if you’re playing your starters a lot of minutes in the preseason, you have bigger issues on your hands. At the end of the day, people just need to not worry about the Falcons because they will be just fine.
The Falcons defense will be fine. Matt Ryan will be upright for the season and we will be great healthy wise. What people need to worry about is how they are going to stop this offense. They need worry about how they are going to be able to gain yards on the ground with big Grady Jarrett in the middle, and Takk and Vic Beasley coming in screaming off the edge to eat your quarterback.
Whether the Falcons finish the preseason winning the last 3 games or if they go winless, they know what the goal is for the season, win the Super Bowl so don’t worry about us….we good.
