Third preseason game gives Atlanta Falcons a lot to work on

The Atlanta Falcons lost their 11th straight preseason game as they lose to the Jets, 22-10. A lot of good and bad came out of tonight for the Falcons and will give them some things to work on moving forward.

The most alarming aspect of the Atlanta Falcons third preseason game was Matt Ryan getting hit nearly a dozen times in the time that he played this evening.

No one was more upset than Matt himself.

That should be unacceptable to everyone in the organization. At one point this evening, Matt was 9/11 and had been hit 10 times including three sacks. Ty Sambrailo had as bad a night as anyone would could possibly have.

To make a painful for night for Matt Ryan even worse, Brian Hill and Justin Hardy both had tough nights making plays for Matt Ryan. On Ryan’s fourth and last series of the game, he, at separate times, was able to scramble and find both Hill and Hardy wide open in the endzone for Falcons touchdowns. Unfortunately, both dropped the dimes by Matt Ryan and the Falcons had to settle for a Tavecchio field goal.

There was some great news tonight, not only did Matt Ryan look great despite the pressure, both Ricardo Allen and Keanu Neal made their returns to the field for the Falcons.

The defense struggled early but ended up looking good for most of the first half. Takk McKinley, Vic Beasley, Grady Jarrett and Tyeler Davison got good pressure and Desmond Trufant played like he did the last 12 games of 2018. Once they get Deion Jones back in the mix Week 1, this defense is going to make noise.

The Falcons will get back to work as Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams gave Dirk Koetter and the Atlanta offense a lot to think about and work on over the last two weeks of the preseason.
