Seven Atlanta Falcons ruled out of Thursday night preseason game
Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has ruled out seven for Thursday night’s preseason game against the Redskins.
The good news is none of the seven Atlanta Falcons being held out this week are battling season ending injuries and everyone is expected to be ready for the season opener in Minnesota in three weeks. Rookie Kaleb McGary is the only one whose time table may be a little iffy.
In regards to McGary, Coach Quinn stated that “they will stay “strict” to the policy they have in place for McGary’s return to full participation.”
The other six players that will miss this week include Deion Jones, Julio Jones, Damontae Kazee, Russell Gage, Kaleb McGary, Foye Oluokun and Kendall Sheffield. As we all know, both Jones’ were scheduled to miss the entire preseason and Oluokun has missed the last two preseason games after starting the Hall of Fame game versus the Broncos.
This week will be the time that Duke Riley has to show that he his spot has not been taken by players such as Jermaine Grace, who has had a tremendous showing in the preseason.
We should all be thankful that after taking 11 hits in his four series last week that Matt Ryan is not among those that were hurt and will miss this week. In what is being treated as a normal week three preseason game by Coach Quinn, the starters will get extended time this week as they start to put everything together and turn their attention towards Minnesota.
With both Kazee and Sheffield out, Jordan Miller is going to get extended time and an opportunity to show that the last few weeks have not been a fluke and he is ready to make an impact on the active 53 man roster.
