Ranking every Matt Ryan season the Falcons starting quarterback
By Matt Siegman
Atlanta Falcons franchise quarterback, Matt Ryan, is set to start his 12th season at the helm. The Falcons have achieved levels never seen prior to his arrival and he has set the standard for years to come.
Prior to Matt Ryan‘s arrival, Falcons fan only goal was making the playoffs. Finishing with eight wins seemed like the only realistic goal every September 1st. Even under Michael Vick, the Falcons were not perennial playoff contenders.
Matt Ryan has changed the outlook and expectations of every season and here is how we would rank every Matt Ryan season for the Falcons.
With Andrew Luck shocking everyone just over a week ago, Falcons fans need to appreciate Matt Ryan is still playing at a high level. Throughout his eleven seasons with the Falcons, Ryan has been incredible and is on his way to the Hall of Fame.
11. 2013 Season
The 2013 season was the worst season for Matt Ryan. The Atlanta Falcons finished with a 4-12 record and was riddled with injuries. Star wide receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White missed most of the season with injuries and the defense shortly followed.
Coming off a career year at the time, Ryan threw a career-high 17 interceptions with 4,515 passing yards, 26 touchdowns, and an 89.6 passer rating. The finger should be pointed at injuries and lack of depth on the team for the 2013 season.
The most memorable part for Ryan during the 2013 season was helping Harry Douglas turn into a 1,000-yard receiver.
Even in his worst year, there is always something positive to take away from Matt Ryan.
