Atlanta Falcons don’t have to look super against Minnesota
The Atlanta Falcons have a Super Bowl or bust mentality in 2019, but the National Football League is never that easy.
Most NFL teams feel good about where they are entering week one of a new season and the Atlanta Falcons are no different. The difference between the Atlanta Falcons and most of the other teams fighting to be king of the hill, the Falcons know they can get to the top.
Many of the players on the 2019 roster understand the grind that it takes to get to the Super Bowl, they understand the different level of dedication that it will take and they understand that luck plays a part as well.
You won’t see the veterans on this team lose sight of the goal when they stumble this season. Every team in the NFL loses a game or two, the 2019 Atlanta Falcons will as well. However, you will not see them panic when it happens.
The Falcons coaching staff and players understand that the NFL season is a work in progress. They will not look like a Super Bowl caliber team in week one, no one does; it is simply too early. Since the turn of the century, six teams have started the season off 0-1 and gone on to win the Super Bowl, three of those feats were accomplished by Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
- 2001 New England Patriots
- 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- 2003 New England Patriots
- 2007 New York Giants
- 2011 New York Giants
- 2014 New England Patriots
From the time Dan Quinn arrived in Atlanta he preaches two things – the Brotherhood and getting one percent better each day.
When you improve who you are one percent every day, you are a completely transformed person in 90 days. That is the goal of Dan Quinn, to look and play like a Super Bowl worthy team going into January, not coming into September.
If things go wrong or should the Falcons lose week one, all is not lost and the ultimate goal of winning the Lombardi trophy is still within sight.
