It’s time that the Atlanta Falcons and Dan Quinn breakup

Breakups are never easy, even when they amicable and much needed. The Atlanta Falcons should end its relationship with Dan Quinn. This won’t be easy, but it is absolutely the only way to go.

Even if you are the rah-rah type of Atlanta Falcons fan that stands behind everything a Falcons player or coach does, even you have to agree to that the time has come to end this relationship.

This environment has become toxic. Growth and development cannot take place in an environment where toxicity is prevalent. There must be trust and a level of nurturing, even in the NFL, and it is clear that this no longer exists.

As we stated last week, other than Grady Jarrett on defense, no one else has developed into the player they are meant to be. Deion Jones took the NFL by storm and was one of the best young linebackers and he is still very good, but even his growth has been stunted. Sure, some of that injury-related but the environment within the franchise has become stale.

In five years under Dan Quinn, the franchise has had six coordinators – three on offense and three on defense. At some point, the finger has to point back to Dan Quinn. Good coaches don’t just grow and develop talent on its roster but also coaches.

Every coordinator that Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers (until 2019) had have been coaches promoted from within. Bill Belichick, Sean Payton, and Mike McCarthy all hired young bright minds and cultivated both knowledge and winning. All Dan Quinn has done is to replace staff never actually changing anything.

This franchise has never been able to grow under Dan Quinn and that is not changing at any point soon. Breakups are never easy, but they are a necessary part of life and its time the Falcons and Dan Quinn go their separate ways.
