When a team falls to 1-4, there is usually a lot of difficulties finding good from what transpires on the field. However, there were some bright spots for the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

Grady Jarrett

This defense would be in a lot of trouble without Grady. On most plays, he looks like he is shot out of cannon and he wreaked a lot of havoc on Sunday. He was in the Texans backfield a lot on Sunday despite facing a lot of double teams from the Texans offensive line.

First half offense

For the first time this season, the Atlanta Falcons offense looked good the first 30 minutes of the game. The line did a great job of protecting Matt Ryan who had time to spread the ball around and find Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Mohamed Sanu, and Austin Hooper.

The 17 points were the most in the first for the Falcons this season and we went into halftime feeling good about the execution from the offense.

Matt Ryan

The Atlanta Falcons scored four touchdowns Sunday against the Texans and Matt Ryan threw three of them and run the fourth one in himself.

You can call him “stat Ryan” all you want but at this point, it is simply arrogant. Because of how bad this defense is and how inept the coaching is, Matt Ryan has been put into terrible situations that no one could bring the Falcons out of.

Could he have played better today? Of course, he could have, there were several throws on the field that he needed to make and did not, but in all today, Matt Ryan played another great game and did not throw an interception until garbage time.

When you are 1-4, there is a lot of bad to go around with a lot of blame. There was a ton of it for the Falcons today against the Texans.
