There is a right way to voice displeasure with the Atlanta Falcons

With the Atlanta Falcons an abysmal 1-5 to start 2019, the questions become – What is okay for fans to say and how should they feel?

Sure, these may come across as really stupid questions for some Atlanta Falcons fans, but for many they are simply reality. Regardless of what fan forum you read today – twitter, Facebook, Yahoo sports forums or texting back and forth with your friends, we have all been told that how we feel or how we see this team is wrong.

Regardless of who your team is, making this personal and express visceral hate toward players and coaches is not okay and voicing that is even worse. As upset as we are, the players and coaches feel even worse.

No one in sports puts in the time, effort and energy it takes every day just to lose.

When you have a terrible day at work, you don’t need anyone telling you how much you suck and neither do Vic Beasley or Takk McKinley. Can you voice displeasure? Absolutely and you should, but making it personal is where it crosses the line.

A lot of people pay hard earned money but that does not give anyone the right to degrade players for underperforming or not winning. The name calling and personal attacks on a player or coach and especially their families is ridiculous and should get a person banned from going to games or wearing merchandise.

Wanting to trade a player, bench a player or upgrade a position is acceptable. Just like anything else in life it is not what you say, it is how you say it.

It is also okay for you to be upset and to show it. No one should be happy about this defense, Dan Quinn and his refusal to give up calling the defense or the lack of effort several players seem to be demonstrating on every snap of the ball. The best way to show your disproval, stop spending money on PSL’s, secondary ticket market and merchandise. This will get Arthur Blank’s attention faster than calling player names on social media or message boards.

You should be upset and you should demand more, but be respectful of how you approach the Falcons, you are making the rest of us look really bad.
