Atlanta Falcons and Packers should start trade talks for Mohamed Sanu

The Atlanta Falcons lost again on Sunday to the Arizona Cardinals. Currently, at 1-5 the Falcons stand alone at last place in the NFC South and are looking at having a top-five pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Atlanta Falcons now need to start thinking about their future. There are several players the Falcons need to re-sign and players who need to be traded before the trade deadline. One of the players the Falcons need to trade away is wide receiver Mohamed Sanu.

Sanu has been a solid receiver for the Atlanta Falcons after joining the team in 2016. This would be a difficult decision for the Atlanta Falcons but one they will need to make. He is so versatile for this team as he can play on the outside, in the slot, emergency quarterback, wildcat, return punts, sell popcorn in the stands, etc.

While it would be difficult for the Falcons to trade Sanu away, they could get back decent draft capital for him. They should trade him to the Green Bay Packers because they are desperate for another receiver.

Devante Adams is without question the number one receiver for the Packers. After Adams, their next best receiver is Geronimo Allison, which is terrifying for the Packers. Sanu would instantly become the number two receiver and make the Packers a dangerous football team.

Adams is currently hurt right now and the Packers offense is relying heavily on Aaron Jones. Having Sanu would open up their playbook and they could even run wild trick plays with Sanu’s throwing ability.

If the Atlanta Falcons traded Sanu to the Packers they could receive a third-round pick in return. This might seem high for Sanu but given the Packers current situation at receiver, this trade is reasonable.

The Atlanta Falcons are likely going to move on from Dan Quinn after this season and should go with an offensive-minded head coach. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley are the future of this team at receiver and a new coach will likely need receivers that fit the scheme.
