In order for the Atlanta Falcons to be contenders next season, one of the top priorities must be to fix the running game. Thankfully, there is one man who has the skillset and mentality to fix the abysmal rushing attack and his name is D’Andre Swift.

The Atlanta Falcons run game currently ranks 28th out of 32 teams in the NFL, with a measly 116 carries through six games. This is a big reason why this team is 1-5 and Matt Ryan leads the league in passing attempts and completions.

If the Atlanta Falcons want to fix the run game, then they need to cut ties with Devonta Freeman either during the season before the trade deadline, or after the season is over. Sure, the run blocking hasn’t exactly been stellar for the majority of the season, but even when there is a hole to run through, Freeman just can’t hit it. He doesn’t look like the Freeman of old, which is why it is time to move on from him.

D’Andre Swift could bring a breath of fresh air to the team. His youth, agility, acceleration, speed and great footwork would instantly improve the rushing attack. A trio of Ito Smith, Qadree Ollison, and Swift could bring a new level of excitement and youth to the offense that would instantly have an effect on the play calling and execution of the plays.

If the Atlanta Falcons continue to work on the offensive line through next year’s draft and free agency, they could really have something special with a revamped o-line and rushing attack.

Swift has proven during his time at Georgia that he has what it takes to be an elite back, consistently putting up great numbers, especially considering how often Georgia likes to rotate backs in and out of the backfield.

With Swift on the roster, Ryan wouldn’t have to throw it 50 times a game and the Atlanta Falcons would no longer have one of the worst rushing attacks in the NFL. Swift would be the next big Atlanta sports star to take the city by storm.
