Amid the 1-6 start, everyone for the Falcons is tradable including Julio Jones
It is very apparent to everyone watching the Atlanta Falcons that a fresh start is going to be needed from all levels of this franchise from the front office down to the long snapper.
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank is going to have to make some very tough decisions. Decisions that will force this franchise to get worse before they get better and one of those decisions could be putting Julio Jones on the market.
The Oakland Raiders got killed when they traded Khalil Mack; everyone from California to New York ridiculed and chastised Jon Gruden for doing so. His thought process was to sell their most valuable piece and replace him with several high-level players to make them a better team.
The devil in something like that is in the details. You have to nail every draft moving forward and make sure that you draft pro-bowl players all over the field to make sure history looks upon you more favorably than present-day does.
If Arthur Blank is going to clean house and get rid of Rich McKay, Thomas Dimitroff, and the entire coaching staff, he should Jones on the trading block as well in order to do the same thing.
Sure, there will be fans that read this and block us on twitter, call people names and never come back but if you take emotion out of this for just one minute and realize that something like that if completed correctly, could make the Falcons even better for years to come.
Wide receivers are much easier to replace than quarterbacks and the Falcons also have plenty of playmaking receivers on this roster that would be able to take over the production of Julio and as Austin Hooper continues to develop, he will also take on that production.
The Raiders should have gotten more for Khalil Mack and the Falcons should learn from that. Because this is more of a wait and see type move, they do not have to jump at the first offer.
Should the Falcons ever get to this type of a decision, they would need at least three first-round picks, a second and a third. Hall of Fame players do not become available very often and teams know that.
Arthur Blank has said he wants Julio to be a Falcon for life, but like everything else in sports, circumstances change and dictate change that no one foresaw. Take the emotion out of how you feel about Julio Jones and you will see something like this could bring a Lombardi Trophy to Atlanta a lot sooner than we are currently on track for.
