Three players the Atlanta Falcons should trade before deadline
Coming into the 2016 NFL season, Desmond Trufant was one of the best shut down corners in the NFL. Sadly for both himself and the Falcons, Desmond Trufant has never returned to form post-surgery and recovery.
Trufant ended the final 13 games of the 2018 NFL season as the best tackling corner in the NFL according to Pro Football Focus and was named the top corner in the NFC South entering the 2019 season.
This is where the accolades for Trufant stop.
Desmond Trufant has been terrible in 2019. Luckily for him, coaches across the NFL see the Dan Quinn scheme as the real issue and may be willing to take on the rest of Trufant’s contract, especially if they can restructure with him to make it a little more team-friendly. As we said earlier, the money aspects of trades and signing players aren’t our responsibility or problem to address.
“Tru” could be a great number two corner opposite someone else that can actually cover, which he has not had here in Atlanta. Communication this season between him and Ricardo Allen has been concerning, again that is seen as a Quinn issue and not player related.
If the Atlanta Falcons can move him, that will allow Kendall Sheffield and Jordan Miller opportunities to get meaningful snaps and an opportunity to develop a lot faster than they currently are sitting on the bench watching Oliver and Trufant give up big play after big play.
