Falcons versus Seahawks – Blogging Dirty picks their winner

Many Atlanta Falcons fans had this game circled on their calendars to moment the NFL announced the Falcons schedule.

The Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks has become one of the best blossoming rivalries in the NFL over the last five years. Great wins and tough losses on top of hiring Dan Quinn have guided these two teams and their fan bases to dislike each other since 2015.

While we as fans hold out hope that the Falcons will win on Sunday, with no Matt Ryan and injured Grady Jarrett, the reality is even less than it was a week ago.

Like we do every week, here is how the staff at Blogging Dirty, sees the game shaking out.

This was definitely a game coming into the season that I thought would go a long way in determining the Falcons playoff seeding. Clearly, that is no longer on the table.

While there is a lot of bad news for the Falcons today against the Seahawks, the good news is the Seahawks have one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL and the Falcons should be able to keep Matt Schaub cleaner than they have Matt Ryan over the first seven weeks.

Russell Wilson is my early pick for NFL MVP as he has carried the Seahawks through the first seven weeks and I do not see that changing.

For the first time this season, I am picking the opponent to win the game.

It’s been real Dan Quinn. A loss here should mean he’s out at the bye week. And with a hobbled Matt Ryan, which is still better than a healthy Matt Schaub, that’s inevitable. Quinn’s reign goes out in smoke and flames against his former team. And the Falcons drop to a disheartening 1-7.

With Matt Ryan’s injury status questionable for Sunday the Falcons are looking at falling to 1-7 before the bye week. It would not surprise me at all if the Falcons defense decides to show up and play their best game of the season with Matt Ryan out because that is how the NFL works.

Many people will think this is a blowout but this will be a competitive game as the Falcons are going to be playing for their pride coming off of an embarrassing loss to the Rams.

No offensive line, one of the worst defenses in the NFL, injured franchise quarterback.

The Atlanta Falcons check all of the boxes. What’s their gift for checking the boxes? A Seattle Seahawks teams that coming off of a loss. This is not good news for the Falcons.

Something is telling me that the Falcons will win this game somehow (lose to the teams they’re supposed to beat but beat the teams they’re supposed to lose to) but I’m not gonna trust my instinct on this one. Russell Wilson dominates and the defense might putt the other Matt on the shelf too.

Matt Ryan detractors are getting their wish Sunday. dark. Next

Falcons vs Seahawks is usually very exciting, down to the wire game. It has become a friendly rivalry of sorts since Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson arrived in their respective cities. Unfortunately for the Falcons, Ryan could be out and the Seahawks just lost at home to the Ravens, so they will be pissed.

I don’t see this going down to the wire even if Ryan was going to play. The Seahawks are far better than the Falcons and they will prove it Sunday.
