Atlanta Falcons announced a trio of earth shattering coaching changes Monday

The Atlanta Falcons announced a trio of earth-shattering coaching changes for the remainder of the 2019 season on Monday. Obviously, we are kidding, they aren’t earth-shattering.

Most likely, this was an act of desperation by Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn. He has no recourse other than relieving himself of duties of defensive coordinator, which everybody knows will not be happening.

Shuffling the coaching staff in such a way will certainly not generate much excitement with the fans and will most certainly prove to be fruitless in the second half of the season.

Arthur Blank announced after the loss to Seattle that he will take the next two weeks to evaluate all aspects of the coaching staff. To nobody’s surprise, these sweeping changes are anything but earth-shattering.

Raheem Morris, who was the team’s wide receivers coach, is now the new secondary coach.  Morris has a history and background as a defensive back coach. This seems as though to be the third coaching change for Morris since he arrived in Atlanta in 2015.

One would think he has warranted being promoted to interim head coach, when and if Quinn is fired at some point in the second half of the season.

Dave Brock, who is far from a household name, has been moved back to his old position at wide receivers coach. He was previously coaching the running backs this season. Finally, Bernie Parmalee is the new running backs coach. Previously this season he was an offensive assistant and assistant special teams coach with the team.

These changes will most likely make little difference in the second half of the season. Most fans won’t be enticed by such unsexy moves.  This is not what they had in mind, not what they expected and will most likely have little impact on the team’s second-half success if any at all.

With Dan Quinn being a dead man walking, he knew he had to make some sort of coaching change(s), whether it be relieving somebody of their duties or do some reshuffling.

Along with the Falcons signing punter Ryan Allen today, it is not surprising that these are the only moves they made during their bye week. Dan Quinn is a desperate man and continues to not hold himself accountable (at least publicly) for the team’s failures.

Perhaps he is deflecting some of the blame. Regardless, these insignificant coaching changes announced today are further proof of that.
