Post Super Bowl has not gone right for the Atlanta Falcons and a lot that blame doesn’t go to the coaching staff that falls squarely on general manager Thomas Dimitroff.

If you asked Atlanta Falcons fans who they would rather replace, Dan Quinn or Thomas Dimitroff, the majority would say Thomas Dimitroff. If you didn’t give them an option and just asked who they would want to get rid of after this season, the majority would still say Thomas Dimitroff.

Blogging Dirty has chronicled all of his hits and all of his misses as Atlanta Falcons general manager. Quite honestly, he doesn’t even deserve credit for Matt Ryan and Julio Jones as those were obvious choices to either select or trade up to select.

Dimitroff has been great with the salary cap and has kept Atlanta Falcons out of salary cap hell. Sure, fans will point to 2020, but we have seen Dimitroff work magic clearing space when we did not think there was any and I have no doubt that if he were to be here next year that would be no different.

However, the salary cap aside, there is not much that Thomas Dimitroff has done positively. He has had two coaching hire opportunities and while both of them started out with a bang, both of them fizzled very quickly. Most general managers only get two coaching hires.

His ability to identify and draft key pieces on the Atlanta Falcons offensive and defensive lines has got to be the biggest blunders of his career. He still lives in the 1970s and 1980s motto where you sign undrafted offensive lineman and make them work, except none of them ever do.

As we did earlier this week with coaching candidates, let’s take a look at candidates to replace current general manager Thomas Dimitroff after the 2019 NFL season.
