Saints tears add a little flavor for the Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons came out of the bye-week with something to prove to themselves, the fans and the NFL as they provided the hated Saints with just their second loss of 2019.
There are two games every year that the Atlanta Falcons have to win regardless of what is at stake and that is beating New Orleans. If it costs the Falcons a draft spot or two, so be it. Beating your rival supersedes anything else.
After being sept by the Saints in 2018 and the 1-7 start to 2019, we needed some good news in this rivalry and more importantly, we needed a sign that the Falcons would be alright eventually. That aside, is there a bigger collective group of babies across the NFL?
The Saints fans cry about everything. EVERYTHING. They truly believe that their players never commit a penalty and every time their offense cannot complete a pass or break a run it is because the defense has committed some sort of heinous atrocity against their offense.
The Saints had 11 penalties for 85 yards and the fans booed and screamed like every single one was called just to cost the Saints momentum. The Saints have been given a pass by nearly every NFL crew this season after the NFC championship game in 2018 and are one of the least penalized teams in the league. Today they were exposed in every facet of the game and it was refreshing to see.
Your tears taste New Orleans, keep them coming. In this rivalry, you are the little brother. Largest margin of victory, longest winning streak, most overalls, most wins in Atlanta, most wins in New Orleans and most wins on the road all belong to Atlanta.
You may not like it, but you are the little brother and always will be. Your crying does nothing but add a little salt to our Waffle House hashbrowns and grits. Sure, you will go on to the 2019 NFL playoffs where you will more than likely lose the game in the final 30 seconds for the third time in three years, but Atlanta will make a few more changes in personnel and coaching and take our rightful spot atop the NFC South in 2020.
