The tough realization we have all had to come to is that the season is over for the Atlanta Falcons and during a week where we are supposed to be giving thanks, it’s not something most of us want to admit to.

Professional athletes are wired differently than the rest of us and the Atlanta Falcons roster is no exception. Fans give these guys hell because of the money that they make, but when you are specialized in something, you simply make more money.

With the realization that the season is over, it is time to sit Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. Both are battling through injuries and playing through five more games will only make those injuries worse.

As competitors and captains, those guys are going to do all that they can to be there with their team leading them through the good and the bad. While that is admirable, it can also be detrimental to the future of the franchise.

We all know how loaded this roster is and the two weeks out of the bye-week we saw what this roster is capable of when led by competent game planning and coaching. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are a big part of the Falcons’ future and they need to be healthy and not dealing with nagging injuries.

Think back to Sunday when Jaeden Graham slapped Julio on his shoulder and the amount of pain he showed and battled through. With three wins that is not necessary. The offensive line is so bad, that Quinn did the smart thing and decided to pull Matt so that he would not have to take any more abuse after getting hit 15 times.

Yes, we all want to sweep the Saints on Thursday night, but when thinking long term, that fourth win doesn’t matter near as much as the health of the franchises two best players.
