Good news on the horizon for the Atlanta Falcons
By Joe Beasley
The Atlanta Falcons could use some good news and thankfully, there is some on the horizon with four games left.
Once again, the Atlanta Falcons have been hit with the major injury bug like they were in 2018. It seems like the injury bug decided to attach itself to the offense more so than the defense.
The majority of the Falcons offensive key players have missed time due to injury but there are two more key players on the mend and they could see the field real soon.
The Atlanta Falcons first-round pick Chris Lindstrom was seen at practice today and while this season is a wash to almost everyone, if he is able to play, having him out there would be an upgrade to an offensive line that’s played subpar this year.
What the Falcons need to make sure they don’t do is rush him back into action potentially causing more harm than good. They have every right to want one of their best offensive linemen on the field on Sunday, but first-round draft picks aren’t cheap. Lindstrom isn’t the only player who could make a return.
Tight end Austin Hooper was also seen at practice. His presence on the offense was definitely missed especially against the Saints on Thanksgiving. Jaeden Graham did a good job filling in for the Pro Bowler but Hooper’s presence on offense makes like a little bit easier for Matt Ryan.
Even though he’s missed a couple of games, Hooper still ranks fourth in the league in receptions among tight ends, sixth in yards and tied for second in touchdowns.
Hooper has turned into Ryan’s favorite red-zone target and with the defense struggling once again, this offense needs all the help it can get, whether it’s additions to the offensive line of offensive skill positions, the Falcons need it.
