Atlanta Falcons’ players can’t save Dan Quinn

The impressive 5-2 stretch that the Atlanta Falcons have been on since the by week should not be enough to save Dan Quinn’s job.

With a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons will finish the season at 7-9 again, just like last season. While the lack of success last season could be aimed at the key injuries on defense, the same can not be said this season.

The lack of success this season rests solely on Dan Quinn. There is no reason why a team with this much talent on both sides of the ball should start the season 1-7. It was thought that with Quinn taking over the defense, the performance on the field, mixed with the return of several key players, would be a recipe for success. Unfortunately, that did not come to fruition.

Instead, the team looked completely lost with no idea what was happening or what they should do. The defense was terrible and the city was upset. Now, after changes were made on the coaching staff, the defense has performed exponentially better and the team is winning because of it.

The Atlanta Falcons even managed to knock off the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers since the bye week. While these wins are great, they are also frustrating wins because this is the team we expected to see the whole season. The fact that this team wasn’t playing like a contender since Week 1 is on Dan Quinn and he knows it.

Back-to-back losing seasons is not going to cut it with a team this talented on both sides of the ball. It is imperative that the organization does not let this impressive stretch at the end of the season dictate their decision on the man who will lead this team next season.

Quinn has proved over the last two years that he does not have what it takes. It shouldn’t take the halfway point of the season to start playing well. The season is only 16 games and there are way too many good teams throughout the league. Starting slow is almost always a death sentence for this reason.

Arthur Blank and the players may love him, but the fans feel differently. He hasn’t produced a winning season since 2017 and the stadium is half empty because of it.

It is time to move on from Quinn and find someone who can finally bring a Super Bowl to this city.
