Atlanta Falcons: Linebacker plans on being a Falcon in 2020

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff shocked a lot of fans a few weeks ago when he announced that the team would let several players test free agency to determine their market value.

Of the Atlanta Falcons that are seeking to test their value is linebacker De’Vondre Campbell. On Tuesday, Campbell took to twitter to tell a fan that despite the fact that the club is telling him to find his value, he does not plan on playing anywhere else.

He goes on to say that his fellow linebackers are really good and he wants to share the field with them moving forward. With all the potential holes that this team could need to fill over the next month, getting Campbell back on a cap-friendly deal would be ideal.

The exciting part of getting him back is that new defensive coordinator Raheem Morris as well as assistant coach Jeff Ulbrich will do a much better job of scheming to the strengths of the defense versus what Dan Quinn has done in the past trying to fit players into his scheme.

Having De’Vondre Campbell back instantly provides a bit more depth within a group that with him only has 61 NFL starts combined between Deion Jones, Foye Oluokun and Ahmad Thomas.

Free agency will give us a little more insight into what the Atlanta Falcons plan on doing into 2020, not just from a perspective of bringing back Austin Hooper and De’Vondre Campbell but also from a draft standpoint.

If they address defense to bring in a veteran presence and have an instant impact on the defense, then they will more than likely go predominantly offense in the draft and vice versa.

Next. Is Thomas Dimitroff using sleight of hand?. dark

With 2020 being as crucial as it is for this franchise, bringing back a player with as much experience as De’Vondre Campbell has, isn’t a bad thing, especially if it’s for the right price.
