Four late round steals that are ideal for the Atlanta Falcons
Jon Runyan, OG, Michigan
"Good processor. He’s alert with strong reactionary skills. An athletic profile is strong and he has natural movement skills. Gets his work done in space and he takes precisely calculated angles to connect with moving targets. He offers positional flexibility to guard and tackle. Experienced rolling his hips in contact and there is a natural projection to NFL run game concepts."
If this name sounds familiar, it should. His father Jon Runyan was a 14 year NFL player and part of the Philadelphia Eagles 75th-anniversary team. While he is not as big as his father, at nearly 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds, he isn’t tiny either.
He played tackle at Michigan but projects to be a guard in the NFL. He is a force in the run game and will help open up holes for Todd Gurley and Ito Smith. While he is a struggle in terms of pass blocking, he really only struggled with speed rushers, which he won’t see at guard in the NFL.
He may have the best football IQ of anyone in this draft. The Falcons would be dumb not to pull the trigger on a guy like this late in the draft as he gives instant depth and will be a starter down the road.
