The Atlanta Falcons are sad to see former Panthers quarterback Cam Newton leave the NFC South.

Why would the Atlanta Falcons be sad to see Cam Newton leave? Well, it’s not because he landed in New England, they’re sad because he has been the most guaranteed win on their schedule since he entered the league in 2011.

Newton faced off against the Atlanta Falcons 15 times in his career and was able to lead the Panthers to just six wins. His career stats against the Falcons reads like something from a comic book.

  • Record: 6-9
  • 57.6 completion percentage
  • 16 interceptions
  • 216 passing yards per game
  • Sacked 24 times

Against the three divisional opponents, Cam’s worst numbers all came against the Falcons. Overall, Newton was 7-8 versus the Saints and 9-5 against the Buc’s.

There is no doubt that Cam was fun to watch. He provided several highlight moments and even as opposing fans, there were a few times where he made you say “Damn” but most of the time the Falcons were walking out of the stadium a winner and that always matter more.

Cam Newton never made the I85 rivalry competitive

During his time in Charlotte, the Panthers swept the Falcons just once, in 2013. They split the season series four times while Cam was the Panthers quarterback and the Falcons swept the season series three times while Cam was the starter. The Panthers have not beaten the Falcons since 2017.

Cam going to New England now makes him someone the Falcons can forget all about. Chances are we won’t see him in the near future and while Patriots fans are sure that Cam will lead them to a Super Bowl in February 2021, where the Falcons will surely be.

Next. Matt Bryant deserves a gold jacket. dark

We appreciate the highlight moments over the decade Cam, but most importantly, the Atlanta Falcons and the Falcons fan base appreciate all the turnovers and all the wins over the decade. We will certainly miss them.
