Atlanta Falcons put together best game in years

The Atlanta Falcons showed today that they are a much better team than what we have seen thus far.

Sunday was a great day to be an Atlanta Falcons fan as the team dominated the Minnesota Vikings in every aspect of the game, en route to a 40-23 win, a score which is closer than how the game played out.

After firing Dan Quinn, it seemed as though the team came out with a spark and some swagger as they forced three first-half interceptions on Kirk Cousins, who looked uncomfortable all game long until the Atlanta Falcons defense let up towards the end of the game.

Raheem Morris has already put his mark on the Atlanta Falcons.

It was a fantastic showing all around from a team that has played below its standards for three seasons now. I’m not saying the team was happy Quinn was fired, in fact I know they are sad and upset about it, but they definitely looked like they had more confidence on the field Sunday.

Matt Ryan looked like himself today after a few bad games. He made several great throws throughout the game, specifically to Julio Jones and Hayden Hurst. It was nice to see Julio Jones involved in the offense again, as well as Calvin Ridley, who was able to bounce back after a handful of disappointing games against the Packers and Panthers

The defense looked spectacular for the entirety of the game, and they were able to set the tone early by making Cousin’s life a living hell in the first half. Thankfully, they played just as well in the second half. Finally, the Atlanta Falcons did not blow a lead and that is a great feeling.

Overall, it was nice to see the team play well for four quarters, and it was even better to see the team have fun while doing it. We haven’t seen these guys have much fun lately, so to see Jones and Russel Gage laughing on the sideline was a nice sight to see.

At 1-5, the season is still looking pretty grim, but this was a great win for a team that was looking for anything positive to happen after a rough start to the season.
