Former Atlanta Falcons have sons following in their footsteps
Deion Sanders and Shilo Sanders
Deion Sanders‘ son, Shilo Sanders, is a redshirt freshman who plays defensive back for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Sanders joined South Carolina in 2019 as a three-star recruit after a successful high school career playing cornerback, wide receiver, and kick returner at Trinity Christian High School in Texas. Following in the footsteps of Primetime, Shilo has made the move to full-time defensive back in college.
After playing sparingly as a true freshman, Sanders was able to retain the year of eligibility. As a redshirt freshman, Sanders has stepped in at safety and looked as if he belongs, racking up tackles. He’ll be eligible for the 2022 NFL Draft if he chooses to declare after his redshirt sophomore season.
Living up to the reputation of his father, an NFL Hall of Famer who revolutionized the cornerback position, will be a tough ask. Primetime helped lay the foundation for cornerbacks to become egomaniacal trash talkers, jawing with wide receivers and telling anybody prepared to listen that he was the best.
Receiving first-team All-Pro recognition six times as a cornerback (in addition to twice as a returner), winning Defensive Player of the Year, and receiving a gold jacket made it difficult to dispute.
