Atlanta Falcons are one of the NFL’s most talented teams
By Joe Beasley
Despite the record, Atlanta Falcons are one of the NFL’s most talented teams.
The Atlanta Falcons finally put together four quarters of solid football and came out with their first victory of the season against the Minnesota Vikings. They won in convincing fashion while being led by interim head coach Raheem Morris.
People now have to ask if this team as bad as they seem or can we expect more of the same.
Fans everywhere have been clamoring for the franchise to do a complete teardown and rebuild since they decided to part ways with Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff. Against the Vikings, it didn’t look like they needed a complete rebuild at all.
Matt Ryan was doing Matt Ryan things and a healthy Julio Jones is always a welcome addition to this offense. On defense, they slowed down the Vikings running attacked and forced Kurt Cousins to throw three first-half interceptions.
Don’t let the Falcons 1-5 record fool you.
The Falcons just looked like a different team under Morris. They looked more disciplined, the ball was moving on offense and they didn’t take their foot off the pedal even when they had a big lead at halftime.
The Falcons can be a playoff team if they continue to play like this. Let’s not forget that the team is also missing the services of Takk McKinley and Dante Fowler hasn’t been playing his best.
This might sound funny but the Falcons still have room to grow. The Falcons are three to four plays away from being 4-2. People should be looking at and questioning Arthur Blank’s decision to retain Dan Quinn after last season.
They have three very winnable games coming up against the Lions, the Panthers, and the Broncos. If they can keep up this level of play, there’s no reason why they can’t go into their bye week sitting at 4-5 and find themselves in the thick of the playoff race.
