The Atlanta Falcons under Raheem Morris continue to decline.

Winning or losing at this point for the Atlanta Falcons doesn’t matter – though every win moves them further down the draft board. When Raheem Morris took over, no one was expecting him to work wonders but his audition to be the next head coach has taken another hit.

After the win over the Minnesota Vikings a couple weeks ago, Raheem Morris seemed to have gotten this team’s attention. He talked about how uncomfortable he had made players and that was going to continue and they seemed to respond well.

It was more than just beating a bad Vikings team too, it was how they looked while doing it.

The Atlanta Falcons executed well on both sides of the ball. When was the last time that you remember the Falcons forcing three turnovers in a half? It has been a while.

Week two saw the Falcons revert back to the same lost franchise that they had been under Dan Quinn – terrible play calling, terrible situational awareness, and horrible inexcusable execution.

We really wanted more from Raheem Morris.

Two weeks ago fans got really upset when I wrote about how Raheem Morris should not have to go 11-0 to be an actual contender to be the next head coach. He should not have to go 11-0 to be anything more than a Rooney Rule interview.

After three games and a 2-1 record, he isn’t ready to be the next Falcons head coach. This team is undisciplined and ill-prepared and it is nothing more than embarrassing.

Thursday night against the Panthers, the offense had miscue after miscue in the red-zone, guys looked lost and at times like they had better places to be. Too many times Thursday night we saw defenders try and tackle without wrapping up and then the tripping penalty by Dante Fowler Jr and the late hit by Charles Harris was a horrible representation of the franchise.

Sure, it is football but playing the way that Harris and Fowler were out of frustration is unacceptable and is a direct reflection of the leadership within the locker room and that starts at the top with Raheem Morris.

For the second week in a row, running back Todd Gurley made another mistake, this time going out of bounds allowing the clock to stop and preserve roughly 40 seconds for the Panthers.

Details matter in the NFL and this team clearly doesn’t understand that.

Next. Three players the Atlanta Falcons should trade by the deadline. dark

After three games, the Raheem Morris barometer hasn’t moved an inch and that doesn’t bode well for his future in Atlanta.
