The Atlanta Falcons aren’t tanking and that’s a good thing

The Atlanta Falcons have no desire to tank the 2020 season.

The Atlanta Falcons secured their third win of the season against the Broncos as we enter their bye-week of the season. The Falcons are playing some of the best football of the season but fans are upset.

The Atlanta Falcons started off the season 0-5. They got rid of both head coach Dan Quinn, longtime general manager Thomas Dimitroff and fans expected them to clean house including Matt Ryan and Julio Jones.

Through the last four games, the Falcons are showing everybody they aren’t as bad as people think. If it wasn’t for a complete defensive collapse against the Cowboys, Bears, and Lions, this team would be 6-3 and be in the middle of the playoff picture.

The Atlanta Falcons are doing the right thing by not tanking and continuing to play hard and win games and interim head coach Raheem Morris is doing the right thing by continuing to expect the best from his players. Tanking is never the best choice for any team especially this one that’s filled with players like Grady Jarrett, Deion Jones, Keanu Neal, and an emerging playmaker like Foye Oluokun.

The Atlanta Falcons aren’t in rebuild mode.

The Falcons were never in need of a complete teardown and rebuild like the New York Jets. If anything, this Falcons team simply needs to be retooled.

More than likely, the Atlanta Falcons will finish the season and not make the playoffs and will still end up with a good enough pick to help fix the holes they already have.

News flash, the quarterback isn’t one of them. The pass rush and secondary need all the help they can get right now and there are plenty of guys available in the draft that can help.

The idea of tanking when you have a hall of fame quarterback and wide receiver is downright disrespectful. The idea of wanting a talented team to lose on purpose would be sending the wrong signals to the current players as well as future players. The Atlanta Falcons should continue to play hard and win as many games as possible.

Let’s face it, if this team tried, there is no way possible they can be worse than the Jets, Giants, or the Jaguars.
