The Atlanta Falcons currently hold the ninth spot in the 2021 NFL draft.

There are still six weeks left to the 2020 Atlanta Falcons season and a lot can change between now and when the first 20 picks of the 2021 draft are solidified.

According to Sporting News, here is the current order of the first 10 draft picks based on all games completed through Sunday.

  1. NY Jets
  2. Jacksonville Jaguars
  3. Cincinnati Bengals
  4. Dallas Cowboys
  5. Washington FT
  6. LA Chargers
  7. NY Giants
  8. Houston Texans
  9. Atlanta Falcons
  10. Carolina Panthers

When the season is all said and done, the Atlanta Falcons will have played seven games against the league’s top 10 teams in 2020. Because the Atlanta Falcons opponent’s win percentage will be higher than nearly every other team currently inline to draft ahead of them, Atlanta will pick lower.

Yes, not only did the NFL punish the Atlanta Falcons with the toughest schedule but it is going to punish them as a result of that schedule.

If you are unfamiliar with the NFL’s draft tiebreakers, here they are according to NFL.com

"In situations where teams finished the previous season with identical records, the determination of draft position is decided by strength of schedule — the aggregate winning percentage of a team’s opponents. The team that played the schedule with the lowest winning percentage will be awarded the higher pick. If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division or conference tiebreakers are applied. If the divisional or conference tiebreakers are not applicable, or ties still exist between teams of different conferences, ties will be broken the following tie-breaking method:"

"Head-to-head, if applicable"

"Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)"

"Strength of victory in all games"

"Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games"

"Best net points in all games"

"Best net touchdowns in all games"

"Coin toss"

In order to avoid all the nonsensical tiebreakers, here are the four teams that Atlanta Falcons fans should be rooting for the final six weeks of the season. These four teams have a much easier path to wins than the Falcons do.
